Sergio Buniac

Senior Vice President of Lenovo Mobile Business Group and President of Motorola

Sergio was appointed Lenovo Mobile Business senior vice president and Motorola president in February 2018. In this role, Sergio leads all facets of Lenovo’s Mobile business across global markets, including R&D, product, sales, strategy, and supply chain. Under his leadership, the company has returned to profitable growth while also defending and strengthening our #2 position in Latin America, establishing our #3 share in North America and driving hypergrowth in the EMEA and AP markets. As a 25-year veteran of Motorola, Sergio has held various leadership roles within the Company. Previously, Sergio served as GM of Motorola Latin American where he led business strategy and operations in the region and spearheaded tremendous success of the brand, sales and market share across Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Argentina, Colombia and Peru. Prior to that, he spent three years in the U.S. leading the Strategic Planning and Companion Products businesses for the Americas region. Sergio also held leadership positions at IBM and Booz Allen Hamilton. He holds an MBA from the University of Chicago, a postgraduate degree from the Fundação Getúlio Vargas (FGV), and bachelor’s in Engineering from the University of São Paulo’s Escola Politécnica.

Rudi Kalil

President, North America

Rudi leads the company’s relationships with wireless operators and retailers in North America. He brings 15 years of experience working in sales, marketing operations, and technology positions across high-tech, consumer goods and telecom industries, including Google, America Movil (AMX), Kirin, Nokia, IBM, and EMC Corporation. Prior to joining Motorola, Rudi served as Chief Operations Officer for Claro Brazil, a mobile network operator with over 60 million wireless subscribers. He earned a degree in Electronic Engineering from FAAP in Brazil and has an MBA from FDC/Kellogg, having complemented his education at the London Business School. Rudi is based in Chicago.

Francois LaFlamme

Chief Marketing & Strategy Officer

Francois is the Chief Marketing & Strategy Officer of Lenovo’s Mobile Business Group. In his dual role, Francois is responsible for Motorola’s global marketing strategy across brand, product campaigns, CRM, social/digital, and global marketing operations. As Chief Strategy Officer, his responsibilities include driving the global business strategy, strategic initiatives and global partnerships. Francois joined Lenovo in 2012 as Vice President of Corporate Strategy, where he focused on Lenovo’s global growth strategy and strategic initiatives, including the acquisition of Motorola Mobility and IBM’s System X division. Prior to joining Lenovo, Francois held various strategic positions at McKinsey & Co, Intel and Dell. He holds an MBA from Duke University and Honors Commerce degree from Queen’s University (Canada).

Luciana Vedovato

External Communications Leader

Luciana is the Global Head of External Communications with more than 25 years of experience. As a global leader, she is responsible for coordinating all Motorola brand external communications, as well as global product launch events. She works closely with company spokespeople to ensure our messaging resonates across key stakeholders. Luciana successfully led the team toward milestone moments, such as the return of Motorola to the premium market and the launch of the iconic motorola razr as the world’s first clamshell smartphone. Along with her global role, Luciana is responsible for the LATAM market. Luciana joined Motorola in 1999 as a PR specialist for the Brazilian market, responsible for the PR strategies and launch moments across Brazil. Earlier in her career, she worked for various Brazilian PR agencies. Luciana has a degree in Sociology from Pontifícia Universitária Católica São Paulo; a degree in Journalism from Metodista University; and a master’s in Business Communications from Faculdade Casper Líbero. She is based in São Paulo, Brazil.

Ruben Castano

Customer Experience Leader

Ruben leads Customer Experience for our Mobile Business Group. In this role, Ruben and his team are responsible for understanding the customer journey through Research, integrating their voice into product development, defining our product positioning and communication strategies through Product Marketing, and creating channel partner and customer facing assets to communicate the value of our products. Throughout his career, Ruben has led successful design teams in Europe, Asia and the Americas allowing him to gain experience in key global markets and a broad consumer view towards design and brand development. He holds multiple design awards and has been instrumental in defining strategies that have driven Moto product designs since joining the company in 2005. Throughout his tenure with Motorola, Ruben has held leadership roles in Design directing multidisciplinary teams across the globe in innovation, research, development and design for a variety of key products and franchises including most recently serving as Head of Design. Prior to Motorola, Ruben led the European Brand and Design studio for Whirlpool. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Design and Strategy from the Istituto Europeo di Design in Milan and is currently based in Chicago.

Leo Liu

Product Development Center Leader

Leo, head of MBG Product Development Center, is currently responsible for global Motorola phone development. During his over 20 years mobile device R&D career, Leo has been demonstrating consumer-oriented design philosophy and engineering excellence spirit. He made the vital contribution in designing various Lenovo products, such as the China 1st Symbian smartphone P930, the world's first transparent display phone S800, the Lenovo 1st generation Yoga Tablet, the Lenovo 1st generation mainstream smartphone A60 and the world 1st Intel processor smartphone k900. After Motorola acquisition, Leo has led the engineering team to design many products for Moto RAZR, Edge, Z, G, E, One franchises, including Moto X4 as 1st Motorola IP68 device, Moto Z3 with mmW MODS support, and RAZR2022 foldable. Leo also contributes in more than 20 patents. In addition, he had actively contributed during USB Type-C and USB PD for Type-C standardization, as a Lenovo representative in USB Newark workgroup.

Sudhir Chadaga

Motorola for Business Leader (B2B)

Sudhir is the global lead of Motorola for business and is also the chief of staff for MBG’s senior leadership team. In his role, Sudhir is responsible for driving all aspects of Motorola's B2B organization including sales, strategy, R&D, support, etc. globally; and solving key requirements of Motorola's B2B customers. Prior to taking on this role, Sudhir was the Chief Strategy Officer of Motorola, where he was responsible for overseeing initiatives including annual and long-term strategic planning and growth. Sudhir joined Lenovo in 2012 as part of the group's Corporate Strategy team, where he supported Lenovo’s global growth strategy including Lenovo's acquisition of Motorola Mobility and IBM’s System X division. Prior to joining Lenovo, Sudhir held various positions at General Motors, Deutsche Bank, and Hewlett-Packard. He holds an MBA from Chicago Booth and bachelors in computer science from the National Institute of Technology Karnataka (India).

Ken Russell

Chief Finance Officer

Ken oversees global financial activities for Motorola Mobility including support for Financial Planning, Product Development, Product Cost and Business Controls. Over his 28-year career with Motorola, Ken has held various management roles in Finance across many areas of the business including Financial Planning and Analysis, Financial Operations, Sales and Marketing, Supply Chain, Service and Accounting. Prior to this role, Ken led Motorola’s Global Financial Planning team, helping drive the business to continuous year on year profit growth. Ken holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from Illinois State University and an Executive MBA from Northern Illinois University. Ken is based in Chicago.

Annabelle Wang

Human Resources Leader

Annabelle is a global Human Resource Leader with almost 20 years of experience in human resource management and organizational development. Her skill sets include strategic HR partnerships, organizational change, performance management, executive recruitment, and employee development. Annabelle joined Lenovo in 2014 where she participated in the post-integration of Motorola following the acquisition. She then partnered with senior executives to support Global Mobile Sales, Global Supply Chain, and Mobile Product Development. Currently, Annabelle is the Head of HR of Lenovo’s Mobile Business Group where she provides project management support to Motorola’s President and other executives. Additionally, she ensures the organization has the right structure and people to deliver on business performance objectives. Early in her career, she worked for Antal international, Deloitte Consulting and Wyeth. Annabelle has double BA Degrees in Economics from both the University of Colorado at Denver and China Agriculture University. Annabelle is based in Chicago.

Zhaoying (Dorothy) Du

Legal Team Leader

In leading our Mobile Business Group’s (MBG) global legal team, Dorothy is responsible for overseeing and advising on various legal matters across the organization. Her vast scope includes global product R&D, hardware and software matters, intellectual property, strategic outsourcing and procurement, compliance, data privacy and security, sales and marketing, corporate governance, and the overall supervision of litigation matters with support from MBG’s global legal team. Dorothy has nearly 20 years of experience in providing legal advice to international companies. Before joining Motorola, she served as general counsel for a US-based international insurance company’s China operation and was co-chair of the Asian-Pacific Practice Group of a renowned law firm. In this role, she advised companies on international transactions, mergers and acquisitions, public offerings, financing and securities, private equity, startups, subsidiary and joint-venture operations, and compliance. Dorothy has a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Missouri Law School, a Master of Arts degree from the University of Georgia, and a Bachelor of Law degree from Sun Yat-Sen University Law School. Dorothy is based in Chicago.

Dan Dery

Software Experiences & Internet Services Leader

Dan leads Motorola’s Software Experiences & Internet Services business, including the software portfolio for on-device consumer experiences and monetization. Prior to his current role, Dan served as VP of Echo and Alexa devices at Amazon. His 20+ year background in all product aspects span several leadership roles in the mobile and consumer electronics industries. From 2016 – 2022, Dan was instrumental in redefining Motorola’s product portfolio and managing a global team of product engineers through first-to-market innovations as Motorola’s VP of Products. Prior to that, Dan was the CMO and VP of Global Marketing, Design, and Products at TCL Communication. His work also includes strategic roles at Philips Mobile Phones, Altran Technology, and France Telecom. Dan holds a master's degree in advance computer science from CentraleSupélec and is currently based in Chicago.

Sophie (Jianxin) Zhu

Procurement Leader

Sophie leads procurement for Lenovo’s Mobile devices as well as the Tablet/ARVR business. As a member of the Global Supply Chain organization, Sophie has a 24-year track record with Lenovo that includes 20 years of experience in procurement. Sophie is recognized for her sourcing expertise in production procurement and general procurement across diversified categories, as well as her ability to lead across cultures. She graduated from the Central University of Finance and Economics in Beijing, and is currently based in Raleigh, North Carolina.
